Swiss conductor Emmanuel Siffert was the Principal Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra in Quito, Ecuador, the European Chamber Opera, London, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Aosta, Italy. Currently he works as a freelance conductor of music for orchestra, opera and ballet, gives conducting seminars and opera courses for singers, and collaborates with the Swiss Chamber Orchestra on a regular basis.
He studied violin in Salzburg under Prof. Sandor Végh and conducting under Horst Stein, Ralf Weikert, Joma Panula and Carlo Maria Giulini. Emmanuel won the conducting prize at the “Schweizerischen Tonkünstlenverein” in 1993 and again in 1995.
He conducted two seasons for the English National Ballet (2003/4 and 2004/5). Further opera work has included “Opera Valle” in Italy since 2002, as well as the Nuernberg Opera, and the Moldavian Opera in Chisinau. Orchestral work has included the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and London Mozart Players among others.
